Artist Chris Purdie Announces AUDITIONS for a Performance Art Project Needed: Looking for a diverse group of 40 actors and actresses, ages 16 and up, for a large-scale performance art project.
Project Description: The project consists of 40 actors and actresses all playing the same role of visual artist, Chris Purdie, in a gallery during his art reception (March 6th, 6-9 p.m.). Preparation will include learning how to improvise and "be" Chris Purdie. After the reception and for the duration of the art exhibition (March 6th-28th), there will be at least one "Chris Purdie" in the gallery during gallery hours. Expectations: I am looking for dependable and independently-driven individuals to produce quality performances. The project is a conceptually-driven performance. The performers are expected to understand the concept behind the performance and dedicate the time necessary to produce a quality performance.
Audition Information: Auditions will be improvisational and based on the character description you will be given.

Project Details:
Title: PORTRAIT: The Legacy of a Conversation
Performance Location: Sego Art Center (169 N. Univ. Ave. Provo)
Full exhibition runs March 6-28, 2009
Main performance/reception will be held on March 6, 2009 from 6-9 p.m.
Time commitment: If cast, performers will be asked to commit a total of approximately 24 hours (3-4 rehearsals, 2-3 performances).
Compensation: Performers will receive an exhibition catalog, documentary video, and a unique experience for their resumes.
